Hire Terms & Conditions

These terms govern every hire order placed through frillsandfetes.co.uk. By completing a booking, you agree to these terms in full. Please read them before you order. If you have any questions before booking, get in touch at hello@frillsandfetes.co.uk.

 

1. About Us

2. Definitions
In these terms:

  • "We", "us", and "our" refer to Frills & Fetes (trading as The Loud Ones Ltd).
  • "You" and "your" refer to the person placing the hire order.
  • "Items" refers to all tableware, glassware, linens, and accessories included in your order.
  • "Hire period" means the dates confirmed in your order, from the day items are delivered to the day they must be returned.
  • "Order confirmation" means the email we send once your booking is placed and payment is taken.

3. Placing an Order
You can place a hire order through our website at any time, subject to availability. All bookings are processed through our secure checkout via Booqable and Shopify. Your order is confirmed when you receive an order confirmation email from us. Until you receive that email, no contract exists between you and us.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order. If we cancel your order before dispatch, we'll refund you in full within 5 working days.

4. Hire Period
The minimum hire period is 3 days. Your hire period is set at the time of booking and confirmed in your order confirmation.

Your hire period begins on the date items are delivered to your address. It ends on the last date shown in your order. Items must be returned via Royal Mail on or before that date. If you need to extend your hire, contact us at hello@frillsandfetes.co.uk before your return date. Extensions are subject to availability and will be charged at the daily hire rate.

5. Pricing and Payment
All prices shown on the website are inclusive of VAT.

Security Deposit
A security deposit of 50% of the replacement value of the total items in your order is charged at checkout. This is held against potential damage or loss and is separate from your hire fee.

The deposit is returned to your original payment method within 5 working days of us receiving and inspecting the items. If items are returned damaged or missing, we'll deduct the relevant charge from your deposit and return the remainder. If the damage or loss cost exceeds the deposit amount, we'll invoice you for the difference.

Payment
Full payment including your hire fee and security deposit is taken at the point of booking. We accept all major credit and debit cards.

6. Delivery
We deliver to addresses across the UK. Delivery timescales and charges are shown at checkout and confirmed in your order confirmation.
We pack all items carefully for transit.
Please keep all original packaging you'll need it to return the items.
If no one is available to accept delivery, the carrier will follow their standard redelivery process. We're not responsible for delays caused by failed delivery attempts.

When your order arrives, check it over. If anything is missing or arrives damaged, let us know within 24 hours of delivery by emailing hello@frillsandfetes.co.uk. We won't accept damage claims raised after this window.

7. Returns
A prepaid Royal Mail returns label is included in your parcel. To return your items:

  • Wipe/rinse all items and allow them to dry before packing.
  • Repack everything in the original packaging, using the protective materials provided.
  • Attach the returns label to the outside of the box.
  • Return the parcel at your nearest Royal Mail Customer Service Point or Post Office branch.
  • Keep your proof of postage receipt until we confirm receipt.

Items must be returned on or before the last day of your hire period. Late returns are subject to a daily late fee — see Section 9.

We strongly recommend using the prepaid label provided. If you choose to arrange your own return, you're responsible for the cost and safe delivery of the items.

We're not liable for items lost or damaged in transit if you use your own carrier.

Once we receive the items, we'll inspect them within 5 working days and confirm receipt by email.

8. Your Responsibilities
You're responsible for the items from the moment they're delivered to you until we confirm receipt after return. This means:

  • Keep items safe and handle them with reasonable care.
  • Do not use items in a way that goes beyond normal domestic use.
  • Do not place ceramic or stoneware items in a microwave unless specified as microwave safe on the product page.
  • Do not put linens or table runners in a tumble dryer.
  • Do not attempt to repair damaged items yourself.
  • Do not allow someone other than yourself to take responsibility for the items without letting us know.

You must return all items we sent you. Missing items will be charged at their full replacement value.

9. Damage, Loss, and Late Returns
Damage

We understand that accidents happen. If something breaks or is damaged during your hire, let us know as soon as possible by emailing hello@frillsandfetes.co.uk with a brief description and photo. We assess all returned items upon receipt.

Damage charges are based on the cost to repair or replace the item and will be deducted from your security deposit. If repair or replacement costs exceed your deposit, we'll invoice you for the balance, payable within 14 days.

Normal wear ie. minor surface marks consistent with careful domestic use will not be charged.

Loss
Missing items are charged at their full replacement value. If items are not returned with your order, we'll contact you before deducting from your deposit.

Late Returns
If items are not returned by the final day of your hire period, a late fee of the rental value applies for each day beyond your agreed return date. Late fees are charged to your original payment method or deducted from your deposit.

If items are not returned within 14 days of the end of your hire period and we've received no communication from you, we'll treat the items as lost and charge their full replacement value.

10. Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellation terms depend on when you cancel, relative to your scheduled delivery date:

  • More than 7 days before delivery: full refund of your hire fee. Your security deposit is also returned in full.
  • 3 to 7 days before delivery: 50% refund of your hire fee. Security deposit returned in full.
    • Fewer than 3 days before delivery: no refund of your hire fee. Security deposit returned in full.
    • After dispatch: no refund. Items must still be returned by your agreed return date.

    To cancel, email hello@frillsandfetes.co.uk with your order number. Refunds are processed within 5 working days to your original payment method. We don't accept returns of unwanted items mid-hire. Your hire period runs in full from delivery to your agreed return date.

    11. Substitutions and Availability
    We take care to keep our inventory accurate. On rare occasions, an item may become unavailable after your order is placed due to damage from a previous hire, for example. If this happens, we'll contact you before dispatch to offer a suitable alternative of equal or greater value, or a full refund for that item. We'll never substitute without telling you first.

    12. Ownership
    All items remain the property of Frills & Fetes (The Loud Ones Ltd) at all times. Hiring items does not transfer any ownership rights to you.

    You must not sell, lend, sublet, or otherwise transfer the items to any third party during the hire period.

    13. Liability
    We're responsible for sending you items that are clean, in good condition, and suitable for domestic use. If items arrive in an unacceptable state, let us know within 24 hours of delivery.

    We're not liable for:

    • Indirect or consequential losses arising from your hire, including any costs you incur due to late delivery.
    • Losses caused by circumstances outside our control, including carrier delays, extreme weather, or other force majeure events.
    • Any injury, illness, or damage to property caused by misuse of hired items.

    Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

    14. Governing Law
    These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from your hire will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

    15. Changes to These Terms
    We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force at the time you place your order is the version that applies to your hire. We'll always publish the current version on our website.
